OLD GLORY
Along
The River’s Edge
A beautiful breeze surrounds me. The sun is starting to go down behind me. Boats large and small motor and sail Still moving up and down the river-- What a relaxing sight to see. As the boats speed along in the distance. The waves come lapping at the shore What a relaxing sound to hear. Up river I see another large boat, With fifteen barges for cargo-- What an awesome view Oh, the quietness is broken, But only for a little while As the coal train runs behind me Again, the peaceful atmosphere is here Along the river’s edge
Gifts from God
God has blessed us with loving friends And wonderful neighbors. All the words can never say, No amount of money can ever repay, What you are giving from your heart To help us get a new start. You have a heart of gold For the young and old. God will bless you from above For you have shown so much love.
My World
Life comes in many structures- Icy cold or very tepid. Most of the time it stays medium warm. Remember to look on the bright side And not always on the droopy downs. As long as you have friends And give them the friendship Or respect they deserve, And can bring sunshine Into the heart of others Or help them in their time of need, You'll have a warm, smiling Happy heart within. Oh, yes, there will be days Of exuberant highs Or depressing lows, But with that special heart And strength You'll survive and live on In this day-to-day world of Cherish yesterday, Dream for tomorrow And live for today.
As Years Go By
Long ago one winter night We each were all alone. We met through friends of our own. Friends we became forever, Lovers for only months. We talked and shared together The things we enjoyed and loved. Then one day your mind and heart Couldn't take it anymore. The love for your children Was tearing you apart. You went back to work it out. I met someone else. We married, but it didn't last. Years have passed now And we're each alone again. We met by accident. Lovers again, Friends forever.
